ʿAlī b. Mūsā (a) ʿAlī b. Mūsā (a) (Arabic: علي بن موسی) (b. 148/765 – d. 203/818) the eighth Imam of Twelver Shia;  his most famous title was al-Riḍā (Arabic: الرضا).

Imam Reza (a) born in Medina, and martyred at the age of 55 in Tus, after 20 years of Imamat.

Ma’mun Abbathit brought Imam Reza (a) to Khorasan despite Imam’s will made him crown prince. The debate sessions al-Ma’mun al-Abbasi held between Imam al-Rida (a) and personalities of other religions and schools of thought are famous.

Imam’s holy shrine located in Mashhad, Iran where millions of Muslims from different countries visit every year.

Imam Reza’s Children

The common believe among the ordinary people is that was   only Son , but this is not true.

Scholars and researchers have mentioned six offspring for , Some have mentioned eight offspring.

That is, he has five sons ( and Jafar , Hasan, Hussein, and Abraham) and a daughter named Fatima, and some hadiths have been narrated from Fatima, the daughter of Imam Al-Rida (a).

Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Mūsā (Arabic: محمد بن علي بن موسی) known as Imām al-Jawād (a) (Arabic: امام الجواد) was the ninth Imam of Twelver Shia.

He (a) was born on Rajab 10, 195/April 8, 811 in Medina and was Imam for 17 years. He was martyred when he (a) was 25 years old and was buried in Kadhimiya beside the grave of his grandfather Musa b. Ja’far (a). He was the youngest Imam when he was martyred.
Imam al-Jawad became Imam at the age of 8 So that some Shi’a followed ‘Abd Allah b. Musa and some others followed Waqifids. Yet most Alawidet accepted al-Jawad (a) as their Imam due to his scientific superiority in spite of his age.
Scientific debates of Imam al-Jawad (a) in his childhood age with religious scholars of different Islamic sects in theological issues such as the position of caliphs and in jurisprudential issues such as hajj rituals are among well-known debates of Imams (a).

Marriage

In 202 AH or 215 AH, Ma’mun Abbasi married his daughter Umm Fadl to Imam Javad (AS). Some have said: It is possible that in a meeting that Javad al-Imam had with his father in Tus, Ma’mun married Umm al-Fadl. According to Ibn Kathir (771-701 AH), a Sunni historian, his marriage sermon was read to the daughter of Ma’mun during the lifetime of Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS), but their marriage took place in 215 AH in Tikrit.

According to historical sources, Javad al-Imam’s marriage to Umm al-Fadl took place at the request of Ma’mun. The purpose of Ma’mun’s request was that the grandfather would be a child of the descendants of the Prophet (PBUH) and Imam Ali (AS). According to Sheikh Mufid in the book Al-Arshad, Ma’mun married his daughter Umm al-Fadl because of the scientific personality of Muhammad ibn Ali (AS) and his love for him, but some scholars believe that this marriage was motivated by And political goals have been achieved; Among other things, Ma’mun wanted to control Imam Javad and his relations with the Shiites in this way or to show his interest in the Alawites and prevent them from revolting against him. This marriage provoked protests from some of Ma’mun’s entourage; Because they were afraid that the caliphate would be transferred from the Abbasids to the Alawites. Imam Javad (AS) determined the dowry of Umm al-Fadl equal to the dowry of Hazrat Zahra (AS) (500 dirhams). Imam did not have a child from Umm Fazl.

Javad al-Imam’s other wife is Samaneh Maghribiyeh, who was a maid and was bought by her own order. All the children of Imam Javad were from Samaneh.

Children

According to Sheikh Mofid, Imam Javad (AS) had four children named Ali, Musa, Fatima, and Imamah. Some of the Imam’s daughters are known as Hakimeh, Khadijeh, and Umm Kulthum. In some later sources, Umm Muhammad, Zainab, and Maimuna are also mentioned as the daughters of that Imam

ʿ (Arabic: موسیٰ المُبَرْقَع), (d. 296/909); son of (a), the ninth Imam of Shi’a; and the younger brother of Imam al-Hadi (a). He was a scholar and hadith narrator.

Imam Javad (AS) had two sons named Ali (Imam Hadi and Musa so that is the ancestor of Radawi and Taghavi Sayyids

After the martyr of his father, he decided to travel to Kufa and he lived there until 256/870, then he went to Qom and stayed there.

His tomb was built in 950/1543 by the order of Shah Tahmasb Safawi. Since then, some of Sayyids (approx. 150 persons) were also buried beside his grave in the tomb.

As mentioned earlier, had two sons Imam Hadi and , which means all Razavi and Taghavi family Tree are descendants of either Imam Hadi (Naghavi) or .

Since at the time of imam al-Rida’s (a) martyrdom, his only survivor was Imam al-Jawad (a), many believe that the generation of Imam al-Rida (a) continued only through Imam al-Jawad (a), while Reza had other children who died before his martyrdom.
Some of sadat Razavi’s pedigree are Afghans and subcontinents (India and Pakistan) attributable to Ibrahim b. ‘Ali b. Musa al-Rida. that must be taken into consideration.
